2nd stay every bit as good as previous really enjoyed this hotel , staff great, Puss friendly

The staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous. The rooms were clean, comfortable and superb furnishings. The food was excellant delicious and very well presented. well worth the money and recommend it for a quiet relaxing stay.

only 1 thing, no evening meal on a sunday, which can cause a problem if you do not know about it.But does not affect a stay at the hotel, which is brilliant.

Very comfortable and welcoming with an excellent restaurant - well-judged range of dishes and wines. Lovely location with typical Northern garden and plants.

Great views from the front aspect of the hotel.

Shower was very weak. Not a fan of shower curtains for cleanliness reasons, much prefer glass screen over a batch.

You would think you were in the middle of the countryside and not off a busy road looking out from the hotel. Wonderful peaceful place with pleasant staff, nothing too much trouble. Room comfortable, breakfast cooked fresh and free wifi. Definitely a hotel I will use in future when round this part of the country.

This is a real find of a hotel! It should probably rate higher as a star rating but the people are fantastic and the food and wine lovely. If you are sick of "plastic" and "steel" hotels with 4/5 stars not really making you feel relaxed then come here. A great hotel!

service was both friendly and professional, food was outstanding. Generally punches above its weight in most areas.

dependent on room, bathroom may not be up to standards elsewhere due to ongoing renovation and upgrading.

We both enjoyed the whole experience and were unable to fault anything, Well done !!

We were there as guests at a wedding. The room for the reception was very good and staff were good.

The owner (I think) was rude. There was a fire in main building and our room had a very strong smell of smoke. We were given a discount but in hindsight I think we should'nt have been charged.

Nice house and surrounding, excellent food: good value for money

Inconveniences of od houses in terms of shower temperature (way too hot) and noise insulation, but this is part of the charm

staff were helpful and the room was well appointed with enough ventilation as it was very close weather.

The shower in my room was very poor. Very low pressure so that a cold shower with some power or a warm shower that dribbled out was the choice. This is not reall acceptable while still charging the full price for the room.

The setting was in woodland and set back from a main road but one would think they were in the countryside. Beautiful Jays in the woodland seen from bedroom window. The lounge booked for family reunion had very comfortable sofas and chairs and allowed us to mingle and chat, however quite warm considering it was a not too warm August aft and evening.

Lipstick and fluff from towels on cups in room - made me think that they were rinsed in room and towels in rooms used to dry them! Duvet too warm for August and therefore sleep very disturbed, though bed itself was comfortable. We booked 2 rooms - a double for myself and wife and another room for single occupancy (happened to be a double) by our daughter. Shower in both rooms very poor. They said that this was a problem with pressure due to work on road, but I seem to recall having read this in a review of the hotel when we booked . My wife tried to run a bath in the morning, but water was only warm so she didn't bother. The handbasins in both rooms were so low that they were uncomfortable to use -makeup/ cleaning teeth - not good on back and posture.. A cousin who also stayed said that she also found this ridiculous and she is only about 5 foot 2 inches tall.

it worked for us and providing a special Ironman breakfast at 03.30 when event hotels did not

The friendliness of the staff, cleanliness and food was excellent. We had a 16 month old baby with us but did not feel that he was in any way an inconvenience to the staff. We were at a wedding and everything was great.
